Our Health & Safety
This is the Health and Safety policy of Kelsall PPG CIO which is a registered charity set up by the community and to support the community. The charity runs fundraising events and operates a small café and a space for the provision of wellbeing services in the community which is known as the Kelsall Wellbeing Hub (The Hub). Our mission is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.
Policy Statement
Helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives is our mission and part of our charity DNA. Therefore, the health and safety of our employees, volunteers, providers and customers is a priority for the charity. Health and Safety is everyone’s responsibility; we all need to play our part to keep the Hub and all our fundraising events safe and healthy environments for everyone. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations whilst also adhering to this policy. The policy applies to all employees, volunteers, providers and customers
Our Health & Safety Policy is to:

Provide safe and healthy working conditions in the Hub

Provide safe and healthy conditions when we are fundraising

Avoid accidents and cases of work-related ill health

Manage health and safety risks in the Hub

Provide clear instructions and information, and adequate training to enable employees and volunteers and providers to work safely

Provide personal protective equipment as required

Protect the customers who come into the Hub

Provide and publish health and safety processes
-
Provide and maintain safe equipment in the Hub

Implement emergency procedures including evacuation in case of fire or other significant incident

Review and revise the policy annually or when any significant change occurs
Responsibilities:
Trustees
All the trustees have a responsibility for Health and Safety. One Trustee should be nominated as the lead. Trustees have a duty to:

Undergo training in H&S for Directors

Create and maintain a safety culture in the organisation

Constantly monitor safety performance and behaviours
Manager responsibilities
The Manager has a responsibility for themself, volunteers, providers and customers and has a duty to:

Carry out risk assessments and put risk mitigation plans in place

Work safely and efficiently

Adhere to Hub processes for securing health and safety

Meet statutory regulations
-
Use necessary safety equipment provided
-
Report incidents immediately that have led or may lead to personal injury or damage to property

Work to continually improve health and safety
Chair of Fundraising Committee
The chair of the Fundraising Committee has the responsibility to

Carry out health and safety risk assessments for fundraising events

Make a safety plan for each event based on the mitigation of all identified risks
-
Ensure that volunteers are briefed on the safety plan

Monitor the implementation of the safety plan
Volunteer & Provider Responsibilities:
Volunteers working in the Hub and the providers of services are required to:

Work in a safe manner

Comply with health and safety policy

Adhere to processes
-
Comply with legislation

Report to the Hub Manager any accidents and injuries

Take reasonable care of their own health and safety
Arrangements for Health & Safety
Risk Assessment

We will complete relevant risk assessments and take risk mitigating action

We will review risk assessments when working habits or conditions change
Training

We will give employees, volunteers and providers health and safety induction and provide appropriate training
-
We will provide employees and volunteers with any personal protective equipment needed.
Evacuation

We will make sure escape routes are well signed and kept clear
-
Evacuation plans are tested regularly and updated as necessary
Safeguarding
-
We will give all trustees, employees and volunteers appropriate Safeguarding training
-
We will make sure the relevant safeguarding policies and procedures are in place
